Before starting middle school, I attended orientation, where I was introduced to the school orchestra.  The director played Bass, Cello, Viola and Violin for the new students.  I immediately knew I wanted to play violin because of the beautiful sound it produced, and my parents rented me one for $6 a month.

Every year they would ask if I was going to stick with it, and I did. All the way through high school playing classical music.

In order to succeed at learning an instrument, it's most important you have a love for the way it sounds.  It can be challenging to produce that sound, but the reward of bringing out its true voice is well worth the hard work you put in.
