I hope everyone had a pleasant holiday season. The general consensus around the camp is that we all had a fantastic December. There wasn't any road work until the days leading up to the New Year. Birmingham, Cincinnati & Detroit were 2012's victims of the ZBB/end of year run. The past few years have been in Nashville & Atlanta. However, with the newfound Nashville Festival & the impending Kenny Chesney/ZBB show at the Georgia Dome, we had to scramble the formula. It was a very good run, nonetheless.
As some of you may have heard, we have been lucky enough to have another number one song ("Goodbye in Her Eyes") on country radio right now. We are über-stoked about the success. Everyone in the band has been a champion of that song even before we recorded it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for your support.
We were asked to sing our national anthem at the BCS Championship Game last week. It's been almost two years since the last time we sang the anthem. It was the definition of awesome to sing that song in a building so full of energy. Although, the game was rather lopsided, the pregame excitement & utter joy was enough to refuel my hope for the human race. It was THAT cool.
This past weekend was possibly the best set of shows that we've played in a while (regarding actual musicianship). Louisville, KY, Ft. Wayne, IN & Peoria, IL were just a straight up party. It's a testament that ZBB brings their A-game every time we step on stage. I'm not talking s**t...it's just my humble opinion.
I am currently typing this in a hotel room in Bozeman, MT. Zac should be flying in shortly. We're sitting in with John Mayer tonight for a charity concert to benefit the local fire departments. John lives here in Montana & has become ingrained in the community. In 2012, the fire department had an incident where they were battling a fire so immense that it exhausted the budget for the entire year. In steps John. From what I understand, the proceeds from this concert will be a great help. Zac & I are more than happy to lend a hand to a friend.
Anyway, lots of neat things on the horizon for the band. We're SO excited about Australia. Glad to be getting back to Red Rocks. It's been almost a year & a half since we've played there. John Driskell Hopkins has a new record out. I'll have a new record out in the near future. We're very excited about joining Kenny Chesney & his merry bunch for some shows this year. I also have a pocket full of news that I cannot share. All in due time. Enjoy your resolutions (if you haven't given up on them already) & watch us sing the anthem, yet again, before the Niners/Falcons contest on Sunday at 3pm EST on FOX.
