ZBB Closes Out Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in Nashville With More Surprises
Does it feel like the 26th day of December to anyone else, or is it just us? What a fantastic weekend at Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in Nashville.
We told you everything was going to be bigger and bolder this year, and we weren't lying. AJ Ghent Band cut through the Saturday afternoon air with the first signs of live music, and immediately the crowd knew their day had begun.
The Landshark Lager stage continued to bring on electrifying acts throughout the day with Clay Cook, Coy Bowles & The Fellowship and the powerhouse band known as Dugas. Coy said during his set something to the effect of, "Sometimes when you ask the crowd to join you, you're disappointed. You all didn't disappoint."
The Capital One stage also had its many moments of sheer music festival-awesomeness including singer-songwriter Levi Lowrey, the always entertaining Dawes, and of course The Head and The Heart. Friday was perfect, but something about the relaxed feeling of Saturdays made for a crowd who wasn't afraid to dance, sing along, and throw back a few drinks. Both Willie Nelson & Family along with Warren Haynes shot legendary tunes into the Nashville afternoon, and the crowds that swarmed the Landshark Lager stage for Blackberry Smoke and Kacey Musgraves created an intoxicating presence.
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros had the crowd jumping and clapping in preparation for the final show of the night. Zac Brown Band. Insert John Fogerty, Clare Bowen, The Stellas featuring Lennon & Maisy and surprise appearances by Kacey Musgraves and Sarah Dugas, and you can understand why the night felt so alive.
Zac Brown Band tipped their hats to the crowd one last time, but not before performing an encore medley of their song "Uncaged" and the crowd favorite, Charlie Daniels Band's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" in glow-in-the-dark skeleton costumes.
It was a weekend full of food, tunes and never-ending surprises. All we're saying is… Charleston, get ready!
