New York, NY – Southern Living names Camp Southern Ground, the passion project of Zac Brown, the charitable partner for the brand’s 2012 Idea House, a restored farmhouse renovation in Senoia, GA.
Zac Brown donated a 500-acre piece of property, set in the farmlands of Georgia, forty minutes south of Atlanta, to begin Camp Southern Ground — what will soon become a state-of-the-art facility that will offer a summer destination for youth, ages 7-17, of diverse skill sets and abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, race and religion to come together to learn life skills and teamwork in a healthy and organic environment.
“To me, there is nothing more worthwhile than helping kids,” said Zac. “As a teenager growing up in North Georgia, I spent my summers as a camp counselor working with children. Watching the impact that camp activities had on these kids was remarkable. I can honestly say that this experience shaped and molded me in ways that I cannot describe and I will be forever grateful."The mission is "to operate a camp to allow children to overcome academic, social and emotional difficulties so they reach their full potential."
A portion of the proceeds of the $12 ticket sales from the Southern Living 2012 Idea House will be donated to Camp Southern Ground. The house will be open from June 2nd to December 23rd, Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm.
