Wham, bam, thank you, Texas (& Oklahoma). It was fun traveling thousands of miles to play 3 shows. It really separates the men from the boys. The Dallas area really showed us a lot of love. That was the easiest one of these Southern Ground shows has gone so far. Rain clouds have been chasing us around for the past week or so. We had a lot of wet feet in our autograph lines lately. Not so in at the indoor Nokia Theatre on Friday & what a great show it was.
Saturday brought us not only back to the rain but to Austin, TX for the Austin City Limits Music Festival. We made an appearance at the Texas Chapter of The Recording Academy for a Grammy in the Schools session. We played a few songs & answered some kids' questions... then we scurried back to the festival to warm up & perform. To our satisfaction, the rain let up just as we started playing... but it started back just as we finished. It was a solid 45 minute set. Also, I should note: Dave Matthews Band are better than you think they are.
We played Sunday night at the Zoo Ampitheatre in Oklahoma City. The Eli Young Band opened up for the Breaking Southern Ground Show. Aside from another soggy, outdoor crowd, the show was fantastic.
Our ride home was hindered by a solid, flying object that busted our front, passenger window on the bus. Everything was okay but we had to switch buses on the was home in Tupelo, MS. Can't wait to roll to Virginia this coming weekend. Have... to... play... more... music.
